Trek to the Chocolate Lake in just one day; this is our alternative day tour in Cusco; it is located on the slopes of the immense snow-capped Ausangate, the highest mountain in Cusco. It is part of the Vilcanota mountain range, famous for being a tributary of the Vilcanota River, the same one that runs through Machu Picchu.
There are still not many visitors who dare to visit Chocolate Lake. Because of this, you will probably have the place almost to yourself on your visit. It is an excellent option for the classic tourist attractions of Cusco; during the hike to the Red Lake, it is also possible to appreciate the typical animals of the Andes. The llamas, alpacas, vizcachas, the Andean condor, and more stand out.
