Acclimatization:
We recommend you be in Cusco at least 2 days before your trek to be acclimatized to Cusco’s altitude so that you won’t have a problem during the tour.

We will pick you up at 7:00 am from your resort in Cusco to drive through to the sacred valley (Moray). At this place, your guide will explain this stunning archaeological site that shows us terraces, which was served as an experimental agricultural station for the improvement of unique crop strains, using the climates of different ecological zones.

After touring Moray, we will go to our ranch where we will meet our llamas or alpacas, explain the premises, and introduce our llamas & alpacas. It´s from Moray where we will hike with our fancy and friendly llamas to the town of Maras for about 1 hour at over 3750m. The lovely scenery and the snow-capped mountains of Chicon, Veronica, and Salkantay are impressive.

Then we will drive to the salt structures of Salineras (Inca times), still being used by the locals to extract salt from the mountain spring water. The salty water is channeled through a fantastic irrigation system and left to evaporate in the sun.

We Continue to drive to Urubamba to have Lunch (optional), and on our way back, we will go to Chinchero, well-known for its weaving and spectacularly sited at high altitude. (3,800m) We will visit a weaving residence and have a demonstration on dying and weaving strategies, as well as touring the archaeological site.
