Vinicunca location?
The mountain of Vinicunca is located in Cusco, province of Canchis and district of Pitumarca. It is situated at the height of 5,038 meters above sea level.
How long is the walk?
Every single day we walk for approximately 6 hours.
Is it necessary to acclimatize?
It is mandatory to acclimatize before doing this route; remember that you will walk until you pass 5000 m.s.n.m. This demands a lot of physical and emotional effort, especially for those not accustomed to hiking at high altitudes. You can do your gradual acclimatization if you have the opportunity by visiting high places like Puno or staying in Cusco for at least 2 days.
Is there a horse rental?
If you have trouble walking on this trek, we recommend you rent a horse (there are horses in the camp); remember that the horse cannot take you all the time since there are very steep descents for which you must get off the horse and then continue on foot.
Are we going to be the first ones at Rainbow Mountain?
Yes, because our camp will be near the mountain of Vinicunca.
Awesome tour!
