Waqrapukara tour one day is the real off the beaten track, highly suggested for adventurous people. This excellent full-day trek takes you to the fabulous Inca Sanctuary. Built-in a rugged rock formation on the steep mountain top, above the sacred Apurimac River. A spectacular site surrounded by some stunning landscapes and breathtaking views.

This great Waqrapukara trek is ideal for exploring the lesser-travelled mountains. Also, it gives you the chance to see the authentic rural lifestyle of Peru. So it’s your opportunity to visit the rural villages. Waqrapukara is a marvellous site with remarkable Inca buildings perfectly adjusted to the natural rock formation.

We will meet you at your hotel in Cusco around 3:30 am. We will begin the two and a half-hour drive towards Marcaconga village. On the way, we will stop at the district of Pomacanchi, where we will have breakfast.

After breakfast, we will have thirty minutes of driving along a beautiful terrain, unpaved road until we reach the end of the road. Here we will have some minutes to stretch, get essential things, and make any final preparation before the trek. We will walk across gently undulating land for about two hours. We will be observing formidable landscapes combined with small mountain lakes along the way.

Once we arrive at the lookout of Waqrapukara, we will stop for some minutes. So this is our opportunity to enjoy the views and take photos of these incredible ruins perched above the Apurimac canyon in a rugged area. Afterwards, we will descend for about forty minutes along a steep hillside trail into the site itself. Upon your arrival at this spectacular site, you will be surprised with mind-blowing views of the canyon below it.

We will have time to walk around and explore the ruins for approximately an hour and a half. So we have a chance to discover all the significant structures of this fantastic and formidable site. We will take photos with the background of the canyon scenery and resting on clifftops in the shadows of the Inca walls. When everybody is ready, we will start the descent back down the way we came. We will reach the trailhead after about three hours of hiking. Then we drive back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 pm.
