Tour Itinerary

Explore our expertly designed itinerary below, crafted to showcase breathtaking views and provide unique adventures every step of the way.

Day 1

Arrival and Jungle Exploration – Evening Wildlife Spotting

Your adventure begins at 8:30 AM with a hotel pickup in Puerto Maldonado. Travel for approximately two hours, starting with an hour-long journey along the Interoceanic Highway, followed by a scenic drive to the banks of the Tambopata River. Board a motorized boat for a 30-minute ride upriver, keeping an eye out for capybaras and coastal birds along the riverbank.

Arrive at the eco-lodge on the Tambopata River, where you’ll receive a welcome drink and a brief orientation about the services available during your stay. After settling into your room, embark on a guided walk through the primary forest, where your guide will share insights into the Tambopata National Reserve, uncontacted tribes, survival techniques, and the medicinal plants of the Amazon.

As night falls, set off on a night boat expedition, searching for alligators, capybaras, and possibly nocturnal predators hunting along the river.

Accommodation: Eco-Lodge in Tambopata Reserve
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Transport: Approx. 2 hours by car and 30 minutes by boat

Day 2

Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick and Kayaking Adventure

Rise early for a 5:00 AM boat ride upstream to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, enjoying the sunrise over the river. This journey provides excellent opportunities to spot wildlife, including jaguars and anacondas along the riverbanks.

At Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, witness a spectacular natural phenomenon as parrots and macaws gather in large numbers to feed on the mineral-rich clay. Learn about the importance of this behavior for their survival. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while observing the action, with the experience lasting from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Return to the lodge for lunch and a rest before heading out for a kayaking adventure on the Tambopata River. Paddle through the serene waters while enjoying the breathtaking scenery and spotting wildlife along the way.

After dinner, take a night jungle walk armed with flashlights to search for insects, arachnids, tarantulas, and possibly even snakes, armadillos, or night monkeys near the lodge.

Accommodation: Eco-Lodge in Tambopata Reserve
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Transport: Approx. 1 hour each way by boat

Day 3

Mammal Clay Lick or Piranha Fishing – Return to Puerto Maldonado

Wake to the sounds of the jungle, including howler monkeys and an array of birds. After breakfast, embark on a trek into the Tambopata National Reserve to visit the mammal clay lick, a site where various animals gather to consume mineral-rich clay essential for their diet. During the walk, learn about medicinal plants such as quinine, cat’s claw, dragon’s blood, and the famous ayahuasca.

Alternatively, opt for piranha fishing instead of the clay lick hike. This exciting activity allows you to try your hand at catching the infamous Amazonian fish.

After lunch, pack your belongings and journey back to Puerto Maldonado. Begin with a boat ride along the Tambopata River, followed by a two-hour car ride to the city, concluding your Amazon adventure.

Accommodation: None included
